Incoterms, customs, VAT: the essentials.
EXW, FOB, DDP: which should you choose?
FOB to keep control of transport and pre-loading inspection; DDP for an all-inclusive landed price, duties included, if your supplier or its representative can be the importer in your market. In the US and Canada, your company remains the importer of record. We compare the options based on your volume and your organization.
How are customs duties calculated?
Based on the HS / HTS code and origin. EU and UK: most often 0 to 12% on the CIF value. US: HTS duties on the FOB value, plus possible additional duties on Chinese goods. We classify every product, for every market, from the quote stage.
Who is responsible for import compliance?
EU: an economic operator responsible established in the Union (GPSR); UK: a UK responsible person; US: the importer of record. We gather the technical documentation, check markings at inspection and coordinate an authorized representative in each market if needed.
